Hygiene, nonwovens companies see strong sales in Q1, but inflationary headwinds drive earnings down for most

Strategic pricing and continued strong demand helped most hygiene and nonwovens companies post impressive sales results for the first three months of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021. But the cost of doing business in today’s market environment is clearly showing its impact on earnings through the early part of the calendar year.

The publicly traded hygiene companies Nonwovens Markets surveyed for this report showed a healthy 17.1% profit margin increase overall compared to Q1 2021. Likewise, the publicly traded nonwovens companies surveyed for this report also showed a profit margin increase, up 5% compared to Q1 2021.
